As any designer will tell you, running a design business is a blend of high inspiration and unrelenting hard work. Lynae and Leann, founders of GIXLI, recognized this firsthand as they navigated the challenges of sourcing, planning and balancing client needs with creative vision. And while they had each other to lean on, many designers they met shared a common refrain: they often felt isolated, lacking that critical network to bounce ideas off or ask for advice. That’s where the idea of GIXLI began to take shape. What if designers everywhere had a central platform to support their journey—a trusted place where they could access resources, ask questions and share ideas with those who “get it”?

Building a Space to Connect, Collaborate and Grow
The next phase of inspiration came while working on an out-of-state project. Trying to find reliable trades and suppliers in an unfamiliar location proved challenging; they were constantly asking, “Does anyone know a good tradesperson here?” That’s when the lightbulb moment struck, there should be a platform for designers to share trusted sources and recommendations, no matter where their projects took them—a kind of “Yelp for Designers,” where reliable peer-reviewed vendors could be found with a quick search.With this vision in mind, the GIXLI team dedicated over a year to building GIXLI. Designed by designers for designers, GIXLI is now the go-to resource for connection, collaboration and credible sourcing, bringing together everything the industry’s creatives need in one place.
